It is essential to the Royal Commission that the Commissioners learn as much as they can about the issues and situations surrounding the deaths by suicide of serving and ex-serving Defence members. The Commissioners are committed to making sure this Royal Commission hears the stories of those who have served, those who continue to serve and the friends and families of serving and ex-serving Defence members.

To do this essential work and ensure we hear from as many individuals, groups and communities as possible, the Commissioners have released a Community Engagement Statement. This document outlines our objectives, principles and methods for engagement.

We are here to listen, learn and then act, informed by the accounts and experiences of those impacted by suicide or suicidal thoughts. This includes hearing from people who have tragically lost loved ones.
