Ceremonial Closing, Sydney

The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide marked the end of its three-year inquiry with a Ceremonial Closing in Sydney on Wednesday 28 August 2024. The Ceremonial Closing was held at the State Library of New South Wales from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm AEST, and it was also livestreamed on the Royal Commission’s website.

This special event provided an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve heard and learned, as we’ve examined the many complex cultural and systemic issues contributing to this national crisis. The Ceremonial Closing also allowed the Royal Commission to again honour all those who’ve contributed to this landmark inquiry and express our deep gratitude to the Defence and veteran community for its unwavering support over the last three years.

This is not a hearing and does not form part of the Royal Commission’s inquiries.
